Once logged onto the Hot Point network
you have full access to the Internet and may send and
receive emails as you would at home or in your office.
However, some ISPs, such as Earthlink, do not allow subscribers
to send emails from the Earthlink mail servers when connected
to a non-Earthlink network (such as Hot Point). These
ISPs normally provide a WebMail alternative to allow
you to send emails from non-Earthlink networks. Please
check with your ISP as to what their policy is and what
alternatives they have in place for you.
When sending email through a Wi-Fi connection, please
keep in mind that emails are normally sent in "clear
text" format. This means that your data is not encrypted
when you send it. It is possible to configure your email
software to send and receive email in SSL secured format.
Check with your ISP to see if this option is available
to you.
Webmail services such as HotMail, Yahoo! Mail and Earthlink
WebMail offer "secure" versions of their services.
You should always choose the secure version when logging
into these services, sending and reading emails. |
